Vivo X50 Release Date, Price, Specs & Rumours

Vivo has released plenty of phones already this year, but it’s not done yet. The Vivo X50 and X50 Pro are rumoured to be next on the way, and are tipped to be announced in China as early as next week.

Here’s what we know about the two phones so far, including if – and when – they might launch outside China.

When will the Vivo X50 be released?

Vivo has confirmed on Weibo that the X50 will be revealed on 1 June – though hasn’t confirmed if the expected X50 Pro model will be unveiled on the same date.

Note that this will be a Chinese launch, so don’t expect the company to reveal much at that point about if or when the phone will come to India or Europe.

How much will the X50 cost?

We don’t have any information yet on the expected price of the X50, though we know that the Pro will cost CNY3,998 ($560/€505) – though we don’t know which storage variant this price is for.

What will the X50 design look like?

The X50 and X50 Pro have both been listed on Chinese retailer for pre-order, and luckily the listings include renders of the phones, so we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the official launch.

Both phones look similar, with corner punch-hole cameras on the front and rectangular camera modules on the rear.

The 6.5in AMOLED panel on the Pro model – expected to have a 90Hz refresh rate – is curved, while the standard X50 has a flat finish on the front.

Both phones are available in blue and black, though the regular X50 also has a pink variant that you can’t get for the Pro.

What will the Vivo X50 specs be?

Luckily we have a pretty good idea here. Both phones are expected to use the mid-range Snapdragon 765G processor – the same as in the recent LG Velvet – which also means both will have 5G support.

They will also both include 8GB of RAM, with options for 128GB or 256GB storage on either model too – so core performance should be identical on either phone.

Leaks suggest that the X50 Pro will have a 4,315mAh battery capacity with 33W fast charging, but we don’t know the battery or charging specs for the normal X50 – but we wouldn’t be surprised to see some drop in battery size here.

Camera is where the phones will pull apart more – you can see from the renders that the two models have different rear camera setups.

The X50 Pro is rumoured to feature a 48Mp main sensor, backed up by an 8Mp periscope telephoto camera with up to 60x zoom, a 13Mp 2x zoom camera for portrait shots, and an 8Mp ultra-wide camera. On the front we’re expecting a 32Mp selfie lens.

We know comparatively little about the regular X50’s camera. Photos show it clearly also has four lenses, but we don’t know what they’ll consist of just yet.
